SuperTime practice screen: 100 BPM in 4/4 with Groove picked, tap tempo and Play

Hear it play

Every sound in this film comes from the app: the click, the drum kit and the drone.

How it works

  1. Pick a groove or a click

Find a groove by style, feel or time signature, or keep a plain click with your own accents and subdivisions.

  2. Set the tempo

Tap it, type it to a tenth of a BPM, or turn the Digital Crown on Apple Watch.

  3. Press Play and practice

Speed Trainer can raise the tempo while you play. Your minutes count toward a daily practice goal.

What's inside

  • SuperTime Grooves sheet: Basic Rock as the current groove, with Live Studio Pocket, Soft Ballad and Acoustic Folk below

140+ grooves that play like a drummer

Rock, funk, soul, hip-hop, jazz, Latin, reggae, blues, country, metal, gospel and odd meters. Humanize, bar-to-bar variation and fills every 4, 8 or 16 bars.

  • SuperTime Polyrhythm screen playing 3:2 at 90 BPM, with the counter and base beats on a timeline

    Polyrhythms you can see

3:2, 4:3, 5:4 and more. Hear each side alone, then together, or chain them into a looping sequence.

  • SuperTime Practice Circle BAND24: three players at 108 BPM in 4/4, one on the web and one on iPhone

One tempo for the whole band

Practice Circle puts every phone in the room on the same tempo, meter and count-in with one invite code.

  • Gets faster while you play

Speed Trainer raises the tempo by your step every few bars. Gap practice mutes bars to test your inner clock.

  • A click you can trust

Timed on the audio clock, so it never drifts. Odd meters, subdivisions down to 32nds, swing and an accent on any beat.

  • Apple Watch on your wrist

Feel each beat as a tap. Change the tempo or start and stop from the watch, or leave the phone behind and let the watch keep time.

  • A drone for pitch

Hold any root note, chord and octave under scales, long tones and intonation work.

  • Play together in the room

Phones on the same Wi-Fi share the tempo, meter and start, and each keeps its own volume. Ableton Link syncs with Live.

  • Run it without unlocking

Play, stop and change tempo from the Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, a widget or Siri. Beat haptics land with the sound.

Who it's for

  • Guitarists and bassists

Practice riffs, solos and grooves against a drummer instead of a beep, and raise your top speed a few BPM at a time.

  • Drummers

Learn 140+ grooves with their fills, test your time with silent bars, and work through odd meters and polyrhythms.

  • Pianists and classical players

A plain, steady click with subdivisions, accents and a count-in, plus a daily goal to keep practice going.

  • Singers, strings and winds

A drone for pitch and long tones, and beat taps on your wrist when you can’t look at a screen.

  • Bands, teachers and ensembles

Put every phone in the room on one tempo with Practice Circle or Play together, and count everyone in at once.

  • Producers and live players

Ableton Link keeps SuperTime in time with Live and other Link apps, start and stop included.

Questions

How much does SuperTime cost?

The download and the first week are free, with everything included, no ads and no account. After that it’s $24.99 a year in the US, or one payment for life. The browser tools at supertimeultra.com stay free.

Does it work offline?

Yes. The click and every groove play on your phone, so it works in a practice room with no signal. Practice Circle needs a connection to share a tempo, and Ableton Link needs the same Wi-Fi as your computer.

Does it work with Apple Watch?

Yes. The watch taps each beat on your wrist, changes the tempo, starts and stops, and keeps time on its own when your iPhone isn’t nearby. It needs watchOS 10 or later.

Can my whole band follow one tempo?

Yes. Start a Practice Circle and everyone joins with one invite code, on an iPhone, an iPad or a browser. Tempo, meter and count-in stay the same on every device.

How is it different from the free web metronome?

The browser metronome needs no install. The app adds native audio, Lock Screen, Dynamic Island and Siri control, beat haptics, Apple Watch and offline practice. Web and app purchases are separate.

Which devices does it run on?

Any iPhone with iOS 17 or later, any iPad with iPadOS 17 or later, and Apple Watch with watchOS 10 or later.

Your next practice has a drummer.
